Garden Rooms Home Offices
Working from home in 2022
Home working has become a way of life for many people because of Covid - 19. Many people are still working at the kitchen table or in a spare room if you're lucky enough to have the space. If you have the space in your garden, a home office or garden room might just be the answer. For the last few years, Border Landscapes have been working with different garden building companies to install home offices in the garden.
Border Landscapes install the concrete bases complete with drainage and access ports for cables, water and wifi. We can pave around the base or on top of it. We can deck around the garden room as well. Generally, the garden room or home office will be part of the landscaping of the garden. Putting the right bases in is essential for an easy install.
Border Landscapes dig out the garden area to the desired depth and form up the size using timber shuttering. We make sure the base has a very slight fall to aid drainage. We insert plastic conduits to hold the various services and bring that up through the yet to be poured concrete slab. The next step is to put in metal reinforcement mesh with the timber shuttering. The shuttering sides are oiled to help the timbers be removed. We then pour the concrete and finish this flush with the shuttering. We can integrate channel drainage to the front, sides or back to collect any water. Before or after the garden room / office is installed we can pave the area or deck the area and integrate this with the landscaping of your garden. We can dig down the area below ground level for your garden room if you find it is too dominating for the space and build dwarf walls and steps down to the office. We have found providing a paved or decked seating area next to the garden room, has been quite popular.
Getting a home office built is a great investment and can increase the value of your property. It also means you can keep your work and home life separate.
